Weather-smart hydration

The water reminder that watches the weather for you

Your body doesn't need the same water on a 95°F afternoon as on a rainy morning — so why does your app give you one fixed goal? Hydration Break adjusts your target to the hourly heat index, humidity and UV at your location, using published science. Automatically.

Why weather changes everything

A scientific goal — recalculated for today's weather

Most apps hand everyone the same "8 glasses". Hydration Break builds your goal from the ground up, then lets the forecast finish the math:

  • Your base need comes from your weight, age and gender using EFSA (European Food Safety Authority) adequate-intake guidance — not a folk rule.
  • Heat & humidity: we compute the feels-like heat index (NOAA's model) hour by hour for your exact location. As it climbs past ~75°F / 24°C, your goal rises in evidence-based steps — because sweat loss does too.
  • Sunshine: a high UV index while you're outdoors adds a further margin.
  • Your day outside: mostly indoors, mixed or mostly outdoors — exposure scales the weather adjustment up or down.
  • Health-aware: pregnancy and breastfeeding raise the goal (EFSA), a history of kidney stones lifts it to urology-guideline levels (AUA/EAU), and a doctor-prescribed fluid restriction caps it — automatic increases off.
  • Safety first: goals are floored and capped at physiologically sensible limits, and every number is explained in the app with its source.

You can watch it happen: the "Today's goal, explained" card shows exactly how many ounces the weather added — no black box.

Hydration breaks every 15 minutes, sized to the heat

Live American football session with a countdown to the next hydration break and one-tap water logging

When FIFA pauses a match so players can drink, that's a hydration break — and it's exactly what your own training deserves.

  • 13 sports — football, American football, basketball, tennis, running, cycling, golf and more.
  • A break every 15 minutes, matching sports-medicine guidance to drink small amounts often during exercise.
  • Per-break amounts that mean something: intensity × duration × live heat multiplier × your body weight — hot outdoor tennis needs more than an easy indoor spin.
  • Live countdown notification with a progress bar, one-tap logging and your sport's badge — works with the screen off.
  • No time limit mode for open-ended workouts.

Built for real days, not perfect ones

🔔

Smart reminders

A morning brief with today's weather-adjusted goal, pace nudges when you fall behind — more often on hot days — and a gentle last call before bed.

🥵

Proactive heat alerts

The app warns you before the hottest hours hit, so you can pre-hydrate — the same idea behind stadium cooling breaks.

🍼

Your bottles

Name and color up to six real bottles. Logging your "big one" is a single tap — on the home screen, in sessions, even from the widget.

Honest drink tracking

Nine drink types that count what they're worth — coffee logs at 80%, tea at 90%, water at 100%. No pretending soda is water.

📊

Streaks & history

A 14-day history and a streak flame that only counts days you truly met your science-based goal.

📱

Home screen widget

Progress bar and quick-add without opening the app.

⚖️

Your units

fl oz / ml, lb / kg, °F / °C — smart defaults by region (US gets oz + °F, UK gets oz + °C), switchable anytime.

🔒

Private by design

🩺

Not one-size-fits-all

Pregnancy, breastfeeding, kidney stones, fluid restriction — the goal respects your body and your doctor.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Is Hydration Break free?

You can try everything free for 7 days. After the trial, the app continues with one simple subscription — cancel anytime in Google Play → Subscriptions.

How does the app know my weather?

With your permission it reads your approximate location and fetches the hourly forecast (feels-like temperature, humidity, UV) from Apple WeatherKit. Your location is used only for that request and is never stored — see the privacy policy.

Does it work with ounces and Fahrenheit?

Yes — fl oz / ml, lb / kg and °F / °C are all supported, with smart defaults for your region and switches in Settings.

Is it medical advice?

No. Hydration Break provides general wellness guidance built on public scientific references (EFSA, ACSM, NOAA, AUA/EAU). If you have a medical condition, follow your doctor's recommendations — the app even supports doctor-prescribed fluid limits.
