Privacy at a glance

Your health data stays on your device. Your profile and hydration history never leave your phone.
No account required — we don't know who you are.
No ads, no data sales. Only anonymous crash reports and usage statistics (Firebase) to keep the app reliable.
Your location is used only to fetch local weather, and is not stored by us.
Payments are handled by Google Play / the App Store. We never see your card or bank details.

1. Who we are

Hydration Break ("the app", "we") is a hydration companion that adapts your daily water goal to the weather and your activity. If you have any questions about this policy, contact us at info@hydrationbreak.app.

2. Data we do NOT collect

The app has no user accounts, no sign-in and no advertising SDKs. We do not collect, sell, rent or share personal data for marketing purposes. We operate no server of our own that receives or stores your personal data. Your name, contacts, photos and health details are never transmitted to us.

3. Data stored on your device only

To calculate your personal hydration goal, the app stores the following information locally on your device:

This data is processed entirely on your device. It is never transmitted to us or to any third party.

Your device's operating system may include app data in its own encrypted device backup (Google backup on Android, iCloud backup on iOS) linked to your personal Google/Apple account. These backups are governed by Google's and Apple's privacy policies and are under your control in your device settings.

4. Location and weather

With your permission, the app reads your device's location for a single purpose: fetching the local weather forecast so your water goal can adapt to heat, humidity and UV.

Your approximate coordinates are sent to our weather provider, Apple WeatherKit, to retrieve the forecast for your area. This is an ephemeral request–response; we do not store your location, and no location history is kept by the app.
Apple's processing of WeatherKit requests is described in Apple's Privacy Policy.
Location permission is optional. If you deny it, the app still works — your goal simply won't adjust to the weather.

5. Physical activity permission (Android)

On Android, the app may request the "Physical activity" permission. Android requires this permission to run the precise foreground timer that delivers hydration-break notifications during sports sessions. The app does not access, collect or store any physical activity, sensor or fitness data. If you decline, sessions still work using system alarms with slightly less exact timing.

6. Notifications

With your permission, the app shows local notifications (daily goal briefing, hydration reminders, heat alerts, session breaks, goal celebrations). Notifications are generated entirely on your device. You can disable them anytime in the app's settings or your system settings.

7. Diagnostics, statistics and service messages (Firebase)

To keep the app reliable and improve it, we use the following Google Firebase services. They operate under Google's Privacy Policy and Google acts as our processor:

Firebase Crashlytics — anonymous crash reports (crash stack traces, device model, OS version, a per-install identifier). Used solely to diagnose and fix bugs.
Google Analytics for Firebase — aggregated, pseudonymous usage statistics (e.g. which screens and features are used, app-instance identifier, device type, coarse region derived by Google). We use this to understand which features matter. Analytics data is retained by Google for a limited period (14 months) and is not used for advertising.
Firebase Cloud Messaging — delivers optional service notifications (e.g. important app updates). A push registration token is created on your device for this purpose.
Firebase In-App Messaging — shows occasional in-app announcements; it relies on the same pseudonymous identifiers.

None of your hydration or health data (weight, conditions, water logs) is ever included in crash reports, analytics events or messages.

8. Purchases and subscriptions

Hydration Break is offered as a subscription with a free trial. All payments are processed by the app store you downloaded the app from — Google Play (Google Payments) on Android and the App Store (Apple) on iOS:

We never receive or store your payment details. Your card, bank and billing address information is handled exclusively by Google or Apple under Google's Privacy Policy or Apple's Privacy Policy.
To unlock the app, the store provides the app with a pseudonymous purchase token and subscription status (active / expired). This status is cached on your device so the app also opens offline. It contains no identity or payment information.
Free-trial terms, prices, renewal and cancellation are managed in your store account. You can cancel anytime in Google Play → Subscriptions (or App Store → Subscriptions); access continues until the end of the paid period. Refunds follow the store's refund policy.
A successful purchase is counted as an anonymous statistic (e.g. "a subscription was purchased") in Firebase Analytics (Section 7) — never linked to your name or payment details.

9. Data sharing

Beyond the three service integrations above — the ephemeral weather request to Apple WeatherKit (Section 4), the Firebase diagnostics/statistics (Section 7) and payment processing by your app store (Section 8) — we share no data with anyone. We do not sell personal data, and we have not sold personal data in the past.

10. Data retention and deletion

All data lives on your device. Hydration logs are automatically trimmed after roughly 6 months.
To delete everything: clear the app's data in system settings, or uninstall the app. This permanently removes all profile and hydration data.
To remove OS backups, manage your Google or Apple backup settings for this app.

11. Security

Your data is protected by your device's built-in security (sandboxing and, where enabled, device encryption). Weather requests are transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS).

12. Children

Hydration Break is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app stores data locally only and requires no account.

13. Your rights

Because your data never reaches us, the data on your device is fully under your control — you can view, change or erase it in the app or by uninstalling. If you are in the EU/EEA, the UK, California or another jurisdiction with privacy rights (GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA and similar), and you believe we hold any personal data about you, you may exercise your rights of access, correction, deletion, portability and objection by contacting info@hydrationbreak.app. We will respond within the legally required time.

14. Health disclaimer

Hydration Break provides general wellness guidance based on public scientific references. It is not medical advice and is not a medical device. If you have a medical condition — including kidney disease or any condition requiring fluid restriction — follow your doctor's recommendations.

15. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update this page and the effective date above. Material changes will be highlighted in the app's release notes.
